How many people are playing CS2 right now?
Tracking the current number of active players in CS2 is easy: just go to the game’s community hub on Steam and look at the counter. The numbers vary from 600,000 to 1.5 million players in-game. Since the game is only available on Steam, this gives an accurate count of CS2 players.
- From 600k to 1.5kk on average
Monthly Player Count in CS2
Calculating the number of unique players who joined CS2 over the last month is a bit more challenging, but it’s still possible. Depending on estimates and counting methods, the monthly count could be between 50 and 70 million unique players. That’s a huge number! With this level of player activity, Counter-Strike 2 is one of the most popular FPS games in the world.
Is Counter-Strike 2 dead?
It’s easy to find opinions online that claim “CS2 is a dead game” or suggest that it’s on the verge of dying. This perspective has emerged for several reasons:
- Infrequent updates
- Decrease in active players
- Statements from streamers and content creators
The good news is that such pessimism is far from reality. A month ago, Valve released a large update with a lot of new cosmetics and regularly puts out updates aimed at improving gameplay. While the community is still waiting for map rotation changes and other new content, CS2 is far from abandoned by the developers—quite the opposite.
A dip in player numbers shouldn’t be viewed as a critical symptom, either. Player fluctuations happen regularly, and this isn’t the first October with a drop in active players. For example, in October 2017, the game lost 4% of active players, and… nothing happened. Either those players returned, or new ones took their place.
In other words, Counter-Strike 2 is far from being a dead game. Meanwhile, CS:GO is a dead game, as Valve stopped supporting it and replaced it with CS2 on Steam.
Fortunately, little has changed in this transition. Maps, weapons, mechanics, and, of course, skins from CS:GO all moved to CS2. There are nearly 1,500 skins in the game now. Any of them, even the rarest, can be purchased easily on CS.MONEY. With convenient search, quick transactions, and good prices, check out and get shopping!
